Dear mothers,
Thank you for everything.? Thank you for raising us into smart and responsible adults.? We know it’s a tough job being a mum. And we know it’s tougher being a single parent. ? It feels like carrying the entire weight of the universe. ? When the world pitied how you would manage to navigate the storm of life without a husband, you defied all odds. ? We have a list of "Thank you" to say. ? Hear us out. Thank you for carrying us in your womb for nine months. You gave us your blood, your energy, your oxygen in those months of anguish and wonder. ? Thank you for bearing the excruciating pain during pregnancy. The exhaustion that followed — as if running a full marathon a hundred times without a sip of water — would have killed us but you mothers bore the brunt. ?? Thank you for brushing our teeth when we were babies. ? Thank you for feeding us a million times.? Nothing gives a child more satisfaction than being fed by a mother’s hand. ? Thank you for applying Vicks when we were sick ??? or when accompanying us to visit the doc. Thank you for wiping our ass when we were kids. Thank you for blowing our nose clean.? We know it’s overwhelmingly yucky to wade through shit and sweat, but you did that anyway without a fuss. ? Thank you for helping us write. ✍️ Thank you for helping us speak. ?️ Thank you for waking up early morning and giving us milk, so we could prepare for our board exams. ? Thank you, ma for never objecting my passion for reading. ? When someone close to our heart, fuel our dreams with undying persuasion, the hope we get is so exciting that it is almost a physical thing. ♥️ Thank you for walking with us to school. ?♥️ We know how scary and frustrating it would have been when you mothers had to run around for admissions or pay our school fees when the deadline had passed several weeks ago. ? Thank you for giving us the best education possible. ?? We understand how much you value it. You have taught us to follow our hearts.♥️ You have also reminded us — time and again — that having a degree in hand is a safety cushion that we all need. ? There’s also a list of "Sorry" that we want to say too; We know that we — kids — are rude at times. We know that we spend a lot of time with our phones rather than spending time with you. ?? We’re sorry about that. ? I have seen adults my age find solace in Instagram or FaceBook. I know it’s hurtful and we’re sorry about it. ? Sorry if we forget to have our breakfast and if get away to work without your lunch. ? It must be disappointing to see the meal you cook with so much energy and love is left untouched. ?? Also, do forgive us if we didn’t score the marks you wanted us to score in our exams. ? We did our best, trust me but unfortunately, we can never have everything in life. ?♂️?♀️ Marks do not signify our talent or character. But the wisdom you teach us everyday will make an impact to our lives.? But sometimes you mothers do annoy us. ? Like for example, it’s irritating when you mollycoddle us 24/7. ?? You kill us with over love. Over caring is toxic, trust me. Sometimes, you should learn to let us go and trust us. A bird can never live in its nest forever; it is bound to stretch its wings eventually. ?♀️?♂️ Tough love turns a wee baby into a strong hearted man/woman. ♥️ Tough love forges the heart of a child into a disciplined and a responsible person. ♥️ To all mothers out there, we thank you for your love. We thank you for the million sacrifices and the gazillion prayers you have prayed for us. ?? We love you with our heart. ♥️ And I love you, mamma.? The strongest woman I know. My wonder woman. My beacon of hope. ♥️ Belated Mother's day wishes to every mothers out there! |
